535 Cabin Fever The Blair Witch Project

Nice summary Patrice! I could almost feel the crushing silence and frightening isolation of the wilderness you drove through -- it made me think of recent horror movies like "Cabin Fever" "Wrong Turn" and "The Blair Witch Project" which exploit those feelings and age old fears.

There is even a web site called "Blaire Witch -- 5 Ways not to Get Lost" whose author is a hiker who got so scared by the movie he decided to help others never get lost in the woods!: http://www.gorillasushi.com/?q=taxonomy/term/34

One question for you:

I didn't understand your statement "I think preservationism, which emphasizes a holistic view of nature, can offer predictive value to the standing of the ecosystem and becomes an aid in predetermining locations for preservation and conservation."

How would preservationism hold "predictive value"? Can you clarify for me? What would we be predicting? What do you mean by "the standing of the ecosystem"? Do you mean its health? Are you saying if we have a holistic view we are better equipped to understand when things are going wrong, and how to intervene?
