490 RFID TAGS -- BIG BROTHER DUST

Message no. 490[Branch from no. 283] Posted by Thomas Culhane (1311520071) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 1:49pm Subject: RFID TAGS -- BIG BROTHER DUST

Just came across this interesting article on my favorite website (Livescience.com) that pertains to our discussions of ultimate control fantasies -- it talks about the emergence of a dust sized RFID (radio frequency identification) chip now coming on the market. It is of interest to us because my wife and I have a friend who works in this business developing the tags for luggage and for the police. This new one will have major implications for how we monitor and control movements of people and goods in our environment. My favorite part of the article is about the japanese idea of using it on sushi -- you eat all you want then they scan your stomach as you leave the restaurant to see what you ate and charge you accordingly!

Enjoy, and comment if you have any thoughts of how it will change our landscape (then watch the film "MINORITY REPORT" with Tom Cruise --- if you can get him to come over and watch it with you! :) )
